Charlie seemed to be a very lost depressed man at the very first sight of the movie. It is obvious that he has a anxious symptom where he does not want to remember the past. Even though the main character Johnson was his only friend left, Charlie had a hard time expressing himself. Despite the hard works that people went through to help his life, everything was a failure.
The movie starts out with a dentist named Johnson. Stuck in traffic, he suddenly realizes someone really familiar, his collage room mate Charlie. Later when Johnson was able to confront Charlie, Charlie acted if he never saw the dentist in his life. As the movie goes on, it seems as if they regain their relationship. However, Charlie's violent actions and uncontrollable actions started to concern Johnson. To get Charlie some help, he asked some psychiatrist's for help, to make charlie not separated from society. Despite all the efforts from the people, Charlie never opened his mouth to express his feelings. Therefore, i believe Charlie is suffering from anxious disorders such as separation anxiety. If i were a psychiatrist i would probably use the cognitive behavior theory. Having trouble to control anger and violence, the most needed therapy for Charlie would be the cognitive behavior theory because it helps people modify the way how people feel, behave and think. One of the reasons why I chose this method was when I saw the scene where Johnson's father passes away but Charlie feels nothing. Was it because he didn't want to remember his family dying from the horrible accident? Or was it the huge depression that made Charlie's life in to a melancholy nightmare.
